The 956 MK2 stereo power amplifier is an addition to the the legendary amplifier family of the internationally multiple award-winning power amplifier 909. The 956 MK2 offers an unusually high damping factor with an extremely short rise time to deliver large currents. Thus, it combines an impressive amount of power with great dynamics and excellent musical timing. Its sound is marked by a fascinating spatial resolution and warmth. Internal wiring to supply power to the output stages and transfer signals to the speaker binding posts consists of 10 mm high-purity copper wire. This ensures that the high currents of the power amp are transferred without loss to the speakers. This amp coaxes airy sound images and bone-rattling dynamics even from loudspeakers with low impedances and complex loads.

Recognizable as a typical Burmester even from the very first glance, the 956 MK2 power amplifier makes use of characteristic design elements of the Classic Line.

Design

Of course, like all Burmester products for high-end home audio the 956 MK2 power amplifier is also hand-assembled in the Berlin factory and is subject to the same strict quality control procedures. Up to 300 computer-aided measurements are taken before and after a one-week burn-in period. The protocols of these tests are saved and may later be used, if necessary, to return a damaged unit to its original state. They also serve as reference for future upgrades to incorporate technological advances.

Excellent Music Timing & Dynamics

The 956 MK 2 also uses our own heat sink in the unmistakable Burmester design. Outwardly, the amplifier fits seamlessly into the Burmester amplifier family and the technical design is based on the same principles as the larger models. As with the 909 and 911, the DC-coupled signal path, for example, guarantees a pleasant sound, even with the most demanding music passages, as the signal path is free from capacitors that can distort the sound. The technical design in the consistently symmetrical circuit structure, in connection with the amplifier stages working in the Class A range, always ensures a warm and timbre-rich image of what is happening in music.

Handmade

Like all Burmester products from the high-end home audio sector, the 956 MK2 power amplifier is of course made by hand in the Berlin factory and is subject to the same strict test criteria. With up to 300 different measurements, each device is put through its paces before and after a one-week stress test. The archiving of the test reports of all devices manufactured by us enables the restoration of the original state at any time if necessary. These protocols are also used as a reference for modifications that, as part of the long-term conception, offer the opportunity to benefit from advances in development.
