Yep Roc Records is going back to Tony Joe White's origins with the vinyl release of Bad Mouthin'

The blues-based album features some of the late singer-songwriter's first songs.

"When and where I grew up, blues was just about the only music I heard and loved," recalls White. "I thought it was time to make a blues album that sounds the way I always loved the music."

The first blues-based album from White features five originals, including "Stockholm Blues," "Cool Town Woman" and "Rich Woman Blues, some of his earliest tracks written just before his hits such as "Polk Salad Annie" and "A Rainy Night in Georgia." The album also features Tony Joe White's take on songs by artists such as Jimmy Reed and Lightnin' Hopkins.

White also took an unconventional approach to recording the album. The tracks were recorded using his own gear in an old barn on his property. Setting up a studio in two former horse stalls, Bad Mouthin' was recorded with just his 1965 Fender Stratocaster, and produced by his son Jody White. The anticipated release of the album comes more than 50 years after the original creation of some of the tracks featured on the album.
